Do you believe that our very own existence resides in our brains? Anything that we perceive that is true-false, correct-wrong and real-unreal are all in the mind. So, I decided to take to give you a tour at the most complex, yet fascinating entity, found right behind your eyeballs.

1. Malakas konsumo. Daig pa aircon.
The brain is usually 2% of the body’s total weight, but it is the larger consumer of energy and oxygen, about 20% total intake.
2. Drink up!
The brain is 73% water. Two percent dehydration will affect your attention, memory and thinking.
3. Uminom ulit ng tubig para bumata… pati utak.
Sweating for 90mins can temporarily shrink your brain equals to one year of aging.
4. Angtaba ng Utak mo.
The brain is about 1.36 kilos. From that, 60% of the dry weight is fat. Your brain is the fattiest organ in the body.
5. Cholesterol= brain food
About a quarter of the body’s cholesterol count resides in the brain. It is an important part of every brain cells, without it, your brain cells die. Mani, anyone?
6. Pareho pero iba-iba.
Not all brain cells are the same. There are around to 10,000 types of neurons working in the brain.
7. Air! Breathe!
Lacking oxygen for five minutes can cause damage in the brain.
8. Laki ulo ni baby… matalino!
Babies have larger head proportions of that of an adult to accommodate rapidly-growing brains. By the time they are 2 years of age, the brain is already at 80% of the adult size.
9. Teenager= matigas ulo.
Ask any parent, teen brains are still immature. Full brain maturity is reached at age 25.
10. Mabilis pa sa Octacore.
Brain information can travel around 1mph to super sonic 286miles per hour. Top speed of F1 race cars is around 240mph.
11. May liwanag ang buhay, kaya pala may “spark”!
The brain can generate 12-25 watts of electricity, which is enough to light up LED lights.
12. Kaya pala think positive is something to work on… Negatrons.
An average brain is thought to process about 50,000 a day. It is bothering that in most people, 70% of it where negative.
13. Blame it on chemical imbalance
Every second more than 100,000 chemical reactions happens in your brain.
14. Hindi utak hangin.
Albert Einstein’s brain is actually 10% smaller than an average brain only 2.371 lbs. But the neuron density was more.
15. Too much TV, maybe?
Since the Victorian Era in the 1800’s, the average IQ has decreased 1.6 points every decade. So right now it is total of 13 points.
16. Isa-isa lang kasi eh.
Multi-tasking is a hoax. It makes the brain tired of switching between tasks. This will give you short attention span, decreased learning & focus and will make our forget things quick.
17. Bata pa ulyanin na.
Millennials ( ages 18-34) are more likely to be forgetful than our senior citizens (ages 54-and up). They are most likely to forget where they put their cellphones around the house than mom.
18. Attention-deficit tayong lahat.
Attentions spans shrink over the years folks. In 2000, one can hold attention for an average 12 seconds. Now, it is just 8 seconds. Your pet goldfish has 9 seconds.
19. Just eat whatever and exercise.
Brain cells tend to go cannibalize each other as a last resort when starvation comes. So in the strict sense dieting for weight loss can actually force your brain to eat itself. Scary!
20. Terabytes to the Nth power
The brain has a virtually unlimited storage capacity. It does not get filled up like your 1 terabyte computer RAM. Check which information you held on in years is actually “misinformation”
These “brain-facts” were used to be true… Not anymore!
21. Use your coconut shell!
The most known myth was we only use 10% of our brain is proven to be all-wrong. CT-scan shows that we use most of our brain cells, even when asleep.
22. To the left… to the right...
Before we were taught that there is an either left or right brain personality type. Actually we use both, none of either side is actually dominant. We use the whole brain.
23. Don’t blame it on alcohol.
Despite of early warnings, alcohol does not actually kill brain cells. It actually does damage connective tissues at the neuron’s end.
24. Play any music
The Mozart Effect is not true. We know that listening to certain kinds of music can improve memory and concentration, but there is nothing different about playing Mozart.
25. More please!
Foodies rejoice! Contrast to a popular medical belief, consuming high cholesterol is good for the brain. In fact a high total good cholesterol will save you from the risks of dementia.
