As hypnotists, we believe that our thought can do a lot of things beyond our senses. So I was bit elated to watch the most recent installment of Marvel's Doctor Strange. It carries a lot of beliefs that can be useful in life.

The Doctor Strange universe holds a basic precept belief that thoughts are what makes up reality. As reality is subjective, (like what is true to me, may not be true to you and it may be different to others...) therefore, we can shape your future or outcome in quite a number of posibilities. In the comics, sorcerers can manipulate reality, senses, time and space continuum. They made the whole thing too mystical.
But we are not sorcerers. As you are convinced that the world is not just the physical world (you wake up, eat, live, die) you also believe in something higher & spiritual than yourself, like faith or true happiness, after life, the universal order, what have you.
What if you can convince your physical body, say heal from sickness or traumatic past?
Or influence people around you towards the outcome you need?
Here are some quotes from the movie I grabbed. Indulge in some of them.
____________________
The Ancient One: What if I told you your own body could be convinced to put itself back together in any number of ways?

The Ancient One: Arrogance and fear still keep you from learning the simplest and most significant lesson of all. Dr. Stephen Strange: Which is? The Ancient One: It's not about you.
The thing about ego is it wants to be kept occupied with anxious thoughts -usually for self-preservation. Notice the words, "I want this, I deserve that"... also the words "I must" or "it should be". We were born connected to the world with people we meet keep memories or connections with us. Once you realize that the world is not about your problems, you will start to gain the life change you want.

The Ancient One: We never lose our demons, we only learn to live above them.
Here is what I share with depressed people. Problems come and go in different forms all our lives. We, maturity, find our selves not pestered by it anymore.

The Ancient One: You think you know how the world works? You think that this material universe is all there is? What is real? What mysteries lie beyond the reach of your senses? At the root of existence, mind and matter meet. Thoughts form reality. This universe is only one of an infinite number. Worlds without end; some benevolent and life-giving, others filled with malice and hunger. Dark places where powers older than time lie, ravenous and waiting. Who are you in this vast multiverse, Mr. Strange?

The Ancient One: You cannot beat a river into submission. You have to surrender to it. Dr. Strange: I have to give up control to gain it? That doesn’t make sense. The Ancient One: Not everything does.
As far as things beyond our control go (like the decision of that person whether to love you or not), we submit to the event and let it flow. There is a higher power which influences the course of events -you may call it universal order, fate, destiny.. etc. It may not make any sense to your perspective right now, but in time it might.
